WCCN Executive Director Carlos Arenas studied Law at the National University in Colombia and has a Masters in Law (LLM) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before joining WCCN in 2001, he was the Coordinator of the Latino Workers Project, a project created by the Interfaith Coalition for Worker Justice [1] to document the socio-economic and working conditions of the Latino population in Dane County, Wisconsin. He also worked for seven years in the Instituto Latinoamericano de Servicios Legales Alternativos (ILSA), a Latin American human rights NGO based in Bogotá, Colombia. Carlos has published articles on a number of issues including labor rights, human rights, indigenous peoples rights, judicial reform in Latin America, women’s empowerment, housing rights, and the social impact of microfinance in Nicaragua.
