2009 Internship Opportunities with Working Capital for Community Needs (WCCN)
(formerly the Wisconsin Coordinating Council on Nicaragua)
WCCN interns work in a productive capacity while furthering knowledge and skills in the field of international development. Internships are uncompensated and require onsite commitment. Internship terms are offered Spring, Summer and Fall.
WCCN facilitates and encourages interns to participate in our study tours to Nicaragua (in January or June) as a way to have a first hand experience and take full advantage of their internships.
2009 Internship term schedule
Spring 2009: February 23 - May 8, applications due February 13
Summer 2009: May 26 - August 7, applications due May 15
Fall 2009: September 8 – December 11, applications due August 28
Time commitment: 10 – 15 hours per week
Internship Positions Currently Available:
Operations Associate (One position available)
The Operations Associate facilitates decision making for loan fund activities. Responsibilities of the Operations Associate include research and evaluation of partner microfinance institutions using quantitative analysis, data management, and financial modeling and forecasting. Applicants must be detail-oriented and have experience in database management.
Marketing Associate (Two positions available)
The Marketing Associate promotes WCCN and its projects by creating and editing promotional materials, facilitating awareness raising initiatives, and assisting in the coordination of events and outreach. The Marketing Associate will also collaborate in grant research and writing for WCCN's microfinance, housing and women's empowerment initiatives. Interns displaying a keen interest in one of WCCN programmatic areas may be asked to write a paper (research or educational) on a specific topic.
