María Christina Cholota of Ambato, Ecuador, is a farmer and client of WCCN partner agency INSOTEC (Instituto de Investigaciones Socioeconómicas y Tecnológicas/Institute of Socioeconomic and Technological Investigations). Since 2005 she has had five microloans that have helped her purchase land, farm supplies, fertilizers (including organic fertilizer) and save money. She works hard growing carrots, lima beans, potatoes, onions and cilantro and raising cows, rabbits, pigs, guinea pigs and children.
Maria is a true farmer at heart. She is very happy that her loans have enabled her to purchase land, increase her income, save money and improve the quality of her family’s life. She’s also interested in and working toward improving the system of agriculture in Ecuador.
